Gold is needed to increase the artisan tool. There is a matching shard for all four areas.

• red shards are needed to increase precision
• yellow shards are required to enhance the masterpiece
• to increase speed, blue shards are needed
• to enhance prestige you need purple shards

For example, shards can be obtained from the gold chest, daily task rewards, or the guild shop.
